If you were paying attention to fashion month (which undoubtedly you were as why else would you be reading this) which took place in New York City in the fall of 2019, you undoubtedly heard the echo of “sustainable fashion” used repeatedly. Clearly, the fashion industry is getting on board with the idea of creating more environmentally friendly clothing, about time too.
According to Wikipedia, “Sustainable fashion is a part of the growing design philosophy and movement towards environmental and social sustainability, the goal of which is to create a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of human impact on the environment and social responsibility”.
I think we can all agree that we need to figure out how to be more sustainable in every aspect of our lives, and that includes fashion. From sourcing clothing from more sustainable sources to being more thoughtful in the ways we wear, wash, and discard our clothes, so here’s my take on everything you need to know about sustainable fashion and eco-friendly clothing.
