5G Towers: A Sullied Hero

For any good story to occur you need to understand our main protagonist, 5G, who is 5G? What does 5G consist of and why does 5G want to hurt me? If these are questions you need answering, then this is the story for you. Our protagonist was birthed from the idea of perpetual improvement and was hence given the apt name fifth generation.

  • During the years of the 1st generation, through our hero we were introduced to the idea of communicating with others in a convenient fashion via phones.
  • 2nd generation helped send texts so that people with annoying voices could be more tolerated. That includes you too.
  • 3rd generation gave us full access to the internet for all your concerning desires and allowed you to search questionable articles to feed your bias.
  • 4th generation gave a broader experience in enjoying high quality videos, this paved the way for such phrases to exist as “Netflix & chill”. Could you imagine a world without it?
  • 5th generation begs the question, “How can our hero possibly bring us any more joy? Surely we have reached peak pleasure.”. What if I told you, you could download COD the full package in seconds, no more buffering in any videos, no more worrying about being connected to Wi-Fi to download anything and this system could allow self-driving cars to be a very practical idea instead of a gimmick on iRobot.

Sometimes, dying the hero or living long enough to become the villain, does not always apply.

How do these massive feats come to be? The Electro-Magnetic Frequency creates different outcomes for our hero. Imagine, the EMF is the speed of our protagonist. Radio waves are the slowest of the waves and gamma rays are at the other end of the spectrum being the quickest, the biggest difference between these waves are what is known as non-ionizing radiation and ionizing radiation. Ionizing, being the more harmful of the waves but I use that word sparingly because there are many uses even for harmful waves, such as X-rays, being fully utilised in the medical industries. Ionisation, is essentially, when the waves have a high enough frequency to disrupt our atoms and the basic foundation of our bodies. Radiation, a word associated with horrible events such as Chernobyl, is not inherently bad and ionising radiation is not something to worry about, all EMF waves radiate from their source. You would not worry about the heat radiating from your heater because “radiation” is in the sentence, now would you?

The key component is how much power (Watts) is given to the EMF waves, if hypothetically, our hero 5G was a feather, although, it could move quickly, it would be more of a nuisance rather than a problem but if it was given a massive boost by our drug Watts then that feather would become the size of a boulder moving at the same speed. Which is a lot scarier than a regular sized feather moving quickly. Regardless, having one feather in the room or having 50 feathers in the room will not put your life in danger. In order for our hero 5G to be harmful they would need to juice up to at least 1000 times its original speed and increase its power tenfold and even then all the boards like the IEEE would not allow the presence of such a monster to roam wherever it wanted to.

5G frequencies will range from 6Ghz to 300Ghz and for those who don’t know the relevance, visible light operates at a much higher frequency, hence, you are more like to face medical problems from being in the sun too long than being exposed to a 5G tower by at least a factor of x1000 (don’t forget your sun cream). Microwaves are actually more dangerous because, although, they operate at a frequency of 2Ghz, fast little dudes, they are juiced up with 700-1200 Watts, making them big boys light on their feet. However, before you go throwing out your favourite meals in an attempt to actually start using an oven, high frequency waves at that range struggle to penetrate basic objects similar to a thin wall. The box surrounding the microwaves protects you for those quick big boys, thus there is a need for plenty of towers to be installed in order to utilise the frequency of 5G as objects such as trees would get in the way, ergo, that is a problem for logistics and not for your little heart to worry about.

Many people will try and frame our protagonist by cherry picking data and giving you information that is stigmatised like the over pronunciation of “radiation” and relating it to tumours, studies that were debunked due to poor collection of information and worse yet, cancer. In anything you pursue, you will find a study to back up your hypothesis, however, a good study is backed by peer reviews within an organisation, it is repeatable and the data is sourced from a large pool to counteract any adverse outliers. To put everything into perspective, streetlights in the 1700s were almost not initiated due to a small group of people screaming that the dangers outweigh the benefits and we would see a rise in issues such as the nation not being able to sleep due to an unnatural light in the darkness. Streetlights were the hero then, and we can look back and see how silly it was to even shun the idea, nowadays our hero is 5G and people are using the same tactics, don’t let people scare you. Do the research and conduct your own tests and you will realise the same people trying to tell you its dangerous are the same people trying to sell you items at ridiculous prices in order to “protect” yourself. In the future, let people look back and see that you were not being a silly goose , and you didn’t buy a special rock for £30 to protect yourself from a wave that could not even break through paper.

A lot of the negative press you read could easily be applied to nocebo and negligence when a study is conducted.

Our hero will rise, do not burn them down and try not to associate waves with a virus as the two are very different. Just because I sneezed when it started to rain does not mean I have an unnatural water ability at the mercy of my Hayfever. Safety measures  have been taken by professionals who have studied this field day and night, you trust your doctor when they give you and X-Ray so trust your engineer when they try and give you an incredible gaming experience with zero buffering.
